Other exhibits "I draw my images from within. Over the years I have stored enough of them to last me several lifetimes.” “I believe that the practitioners of all the arts share a similar urgency to commute their feelings. In using a medium that is not governed by words or an exact musical scale, I have the freedom to visualize my primitive nature. I am afforded the luxury of putting my mental pictures on canvas without converting them into a different medium.” “My three major influences are a painter, a novelist and a pianist/composer. The painter, Pablo Picasso taught me that one sweeping line has the potential to explode into a countless number of fresh ideas. The novelist, Saul Bellow taught me that an artist, regardless of the medium, has the potential to arouse all of man’s senses The pianist/composer, Theloniious Monk taught me that melodious passages can flow from hard, angular compositions.” |
